Visa

There is a visa requirement in the following countries:
Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Caucasus / CIS, Kurgan / CIS, Kamchatka / CIS.

Characteristics

• New Zealand: left-hand traffic
• New Zealand: Take note of strict hygiene regulations (eg no dirt on hunting boots)
• Iran: malaria prophylaxis, proof of health insurance when applying for a visa and possibly on entry
• Kurgan: When shooting in Kurgan take the shooting stick.

Traveling with rifles

• Register the rifle with the airline.
• Transport rifle and ammunition separately and give up.
• Ammunition: Take 40 shots (transport separately in a shock and fire resistant box).
• Remove the riflescope, but do not put it in your hand luggage.
• At Departure Airport: Register your rifle at check-in for BGS inspection.
• At the destination airport: Register the rifle here as well and keep the police document handed to you together with the migration card (you will need it for the return journey).
• In principle, always use the red area for notifiable goods - never the green ones - and in no case simply go through!
• A weapons import permit is required in all Asian countries.

Weather, Clothing, Basis equipment

Asia is big.
Hunting can take place in early autumn or late winter, so clothes should be tailored to the region and season.

• Use good mountain boots (Meindl, Hanwag, etc.).
• Wear seamless functional socks.
• Onion-shell clothing, i. thin and multiple layers, wind and waterproof uppers (use proven brands, e.g., Chevalier or Härkila).
• For mountain hunts, it makes sense to always have change clothes in your backpack.
• Generally for all stalking hunts:
Wear waterproof shoes, gaiters and a light backpack with changing clothes.
• In extreme hunts in the mountains of Asia you have to dodge now and then to a makeshift fly camp, so always belong to the man: a small backpack with mattress (at least 2.5 cm thick, self-inflating eg Therm-a-rest), sleeping bag and personal medications.
• The luggage also includes a headlamp, spare batteries and cable ties.
• bring GPS and satellite phone (if available)
• Multitool (eg Leatherman)

Weapon and Optic

• Basically  caliber from 7 mm upwards, universally recommended is e.g. .300 Win. Like.
• Variable rifle scopes (ZF) with high magnification and high light intensity (eg Swarovski Z6 2-12x50)
• Use spotting scope
• Use rangefinders (especially in mountains it is difficult to estimate distances).

Tipps

• In the mountains the UV radiation is very intense - always use sunscreen (SPF 20+).
• Use lip balm with UV protection
• Also wear sunglasses with UV protection in winter.
• Indispensable in every mountain hunt is a rangefinder.
• Mountain hunts take both humans and material, so it is advisable to take a second riflescope with you.
• To protect the weapon when hunting in a light canvas bag.
• Small binoculars (8 - 10x magnification) are enough, spotting scope is helpful.
• Have ammunition always on hand, sometimes you put the backpack at the last few meters of stalking off.
• Marale and Argalis are shot-hard. We recommend caliber with extended trajectory and high energy, min. 2700 joules.

Wilderness hunt

• Take the emergency medication with you every time you go for a walk, as well as GPS and satellite phone (if available).
• For hunting with a horse: Be sure to wear suitable pants (not jeans!) To avoid abrasions. Pull leggings over it.
• In winter in the mountains and high mountains:
The rifle must be degreased and de-oiled so that the firing pin does not freeze. Handle lock and striker with graphite.
